Weddings

Well, talking about weddings... In Brazil has happened phenomenon quite different from the recent decades. Young people increasingly have postponed the wedding. Sometimes, do not marry and continue living with their parents until they are 30-40 years old. Many do not wish to marry and have kids. Instead, intensive life of uncle/aunt or adopt dogs and cats.
I think this is an interesting cultural aspect to be studied.
Another interesting question is the celebration of marriage. In Brazil, most of these ceremonies take place in Christian churches on Saturdays. After the ceremony, it is common for the couple to receive their relatives and friends at a party that includes dinner, music and dance, throwing the bouquet, a tribute video and sometimes the party goes until breakfast.
Many couples formalize their union only through civil registration, others celebrate and receive their friends in a unique environment, a small ranch or something like this.

  1. This first part is very interesting. Most people around here are very set on moving out of their homes as soon as they possibly can. They may or may not want to start a family, but they usually go off to college and party a lot, or go out and have fun. You don't hear of many people wanting to live with their parents that's for sure!
The weddings sound very nice, and a lot like they are here! I haven't been to a wedding in a year or so and they were out late but I don't remember it lasting till breakfast! That sounds like fun!

  2. This is Genna. i find that to be very interesting that some Brazilians don't get married at all.

People in the USA most the time people want to get married. Most people don't want to live with their parents for that long. When we graduate from high school we usually want to get out of our house and be on our own. Be independent. Yah know?

Our celebration of Marriage is pretty much the same. Only sometimes family members do a tribute video.

I love going to weddings. They are so fun and beautiful. :)

  4. I remember a lot of weddings occuring on Friday nights in Brazil. Is that becoming more common? And definitely, the parties are better!:) Much longer with more dancing, as a whole. Certainly some weddings in the US are like that, but most people go home by 11pm or so.
